In summary, first test your homocystein level.  Then start taking at least the 5 essentials above, begin with at least the minimum levels.  Do this for a month. Test again.  Act according to what your test tells you and how you feel about it.

Also look at section #10, "Homocystein Revolution".  This will give you a better "feel" for what is going on and what to do about it.

The advantages of this course of action are that it is relatively cheap, much evidence says it works, and there is no downside.  None of the nutrients mentioned above is toxic in the amounts suggested.  If you don't get your homocystein level to where you want it, increase the amounts, wait 2-4 weeks and test again.  Some people have difficulty assimilating certain vitamins and supplements, so only a small percentage actually gets absorbed.  You can increase the amount taken or change the form in which you are taking it to one more easily absorbed.  Don't worry about this until after you reach the maximum recommended intake, stay there for a month, test again and find that your level is still too high.  In that case you should consult with a competent professional.  Take your test records aand your supplement bottles with you, show him what you have done, what results you are getting and ask how to improve on that.
